about

'before the silence breaks' is the second album from orchestral indie-rock group batteryboy. the album title represents that second before something happens that changes the direction life will take. no matter how big or small a decision is, life is never exactly the same after the silence breaks, whether positively or negatively. the 11 songs on the album each represent a scenario of that silence breaking in some stage or aspect aspect of life. a declaration of change. words of encouragement. a desperate cry out for help. singing a loved one to sleep. sounds that bring back a lifetime of memories. laughter at play. realization of self-discovery. expression of love. saying goodbye. encouraging hope. celebrating life in death.

Track Name: you don't need to disappear
just before the silence breaks, just before the second that you take
a single breath before you start to scream
you feel so brave before you disappear in me
when everything around you changed so much it all began to feel the same
when nothing even strong enough to break
will you be, will you be brave enough to stay

hurry, hurry before you break, before you break

pull the covers over face decide to sleep it all away today
dream until the moon is full again
you pull yourself, you pull yourself together straight
run outside to howl so howl the thunder claps the rain right from the clouds you open up your arms to catch the rain
will you be, will you be brave enough to stay

hurry, hurry before you break, before you break

you don’t need to disappear
Track Name: alive inside
what’s behind those eyes can’t see enough
do you dream do you think do you feel like you’ll
never be found when you look around does it feel the
same like it did when you were young
dancing for fun feel the rain against your face feel
the sun warm up your fading heart

but look how far you’ve come just look how far
you’ve come

you must dig dig to find your burning sun
find your passion your reason not to run

what’s it feel like alive inside do you love do you
laugh do you feel the warmth against your skin when
you hold them close does it feel the same like it did
when they were near getting lost in the dark running
from laughter chasing you catching you falling down
inside your arms
Track Name: recover
shut up you said i don’t want to fight
neither one of us ever turns out right
i don’t want to hear another word i don’t need you to commiserate about the way i don’t live up to how you thought i would live up to be

just live for now and hold on to me forget about any broken dreams always know i don’t want a day where i could die without you by my side

embrace me now, cause i need to know
what it feels like to believe in something better
just take my light hold it deep inside
know i found the strength i needed to recover

something in the sound that the silence brings
something in the way that you put your trust in me
everything here looks upside down feel my grip don’t look around
just look me in the eyes and tell me everything will just turn out alright

the bumps the breaks may never fade soak it up don’t hesitate
just run with arms spread wide with nothing covered naked nothing left to hide
Track Name: for once in your life
take it apart and put it back the way you found it on
the path place it safe inside your pack know you’ll
find your own way back

hope is stronger than you know hold on to someone close
wait for clouds to roll and pass

comfort will come at last...for you
Track Name: remember me now
leaning back face to the clouds lay your head to the
ground give it a try sun so bright squinting eyes hold
on tight kick the air eyes to the sky

you let go i can’t help you push anymore

feel the wind kissing your face brushing your hair
pushing your fears back to the ground you try for the
sky your stomach turns it stwists and it flies you let
go you started you started to fly

you let go i can’t help you push anymore

don’t look down remember me now

swing true swing high don’t wonder how remember me
now remember me now
Track Name: love them whole
photographs were never taken all the words and all the painted sounds do you believe them now did you fall behind far out of sight

every waking single day within these walls i’ll never take your name in vain i recall them all do you loalve them all i love them whole

someday you will burn the tree with me in still
leaves would turn to ash and the limbs begin to crash
someday i’ll fall down

take a drink out of the cup that fills itself out of your tired soul and it’s full again up against the wind, up against the wind

hoping for the secret word that feels only what you would feel within No you can’t pretend what you find within when you seek within

father told me this sunset would come
that sore, slow setting sun
before i turn my head i won’t pretend to know my sins
i’ll float away just as fast as i can

float away just as fast as you can
float away just as fast as you can
soon you’ll hit the sun and you’ll sing a little song
maybe you’ll finally belong
Track Name: soil underneath
sometimes you need sad to feel happy again
if you don’t know what’s been broken
how can you start to mend
some things just can’t be started
until something comes to an end
just hang in there my friend

some days will be black until the silver begins
but you can’t see the lining until the light
startes to bend
you can’t love yourself so right
until you practice again
just hang in there my friend

some days it’s hard to handle every little thing
only to dig deep roots to grow these branches again
to feel the wind blow through and shake these leaves
again

just hang in there my friend
Track Name: me again
i couldn’t breath i couldn’t fall i couldn’t feel anything at all just that sick that your stomach feels when you think you just got caught i looked inside of my own head i saw the other side instead it was staring back at me shaking its head in disbelief

it’s me again i said oh i thought that you were dead
no i just had to go away to figure out what i had left
it’s good to see you again i swore that you were dead
i swear that myself sometimes i guess

i came out on the other side i never met a cure i didn’t try
well at least half-tried i guess but that’s still better than half the rest it’s just not every day you meet The once so great and future me to set me straight to fight my fight until i get this living right
Track Name: time to go
oh my god i said as she leapt into my arms
oh, my girl, where have you gone why did you run so far
to get away to see the place that i dream about each night
but the more i ran the farther the dream seemed from my eyes

i climbed so high i could taste the clouds with my tongue
they were sweet at first but i had too much and i had to climb back down i tried to run home but i couldn’t move so i cried out why can’t i Then all the birds took off and carried me right through the sky

i need you to know it’s time for me to go
Track Name: sleep, happy heart
He fell asleep with my hand on his back
i can feel every bone i can feel every crack with each breath
From the tiny crook in the side of his mouth
i can hear every thought i can hear every doubt with each breath

Sleep, happy heart

Ending each day with a kiss on his cheek
imagine you’re flying imagine you sing at your death
Holding his hand as we walk through the night
We can take on the shadows and leave all the darkness behind

Sleep, happy heart
Track Name: your parade
the flicker of the day’s last light
between the buildings passing by
they’ve lined up on the left and right
just lay back and enjoy the ride

i laid the plans i’ll lead the way
let go of all that extra weight
don’t think of distance and decay
just lay there and pretend to pray

unfinished and amused
not ready to refuse another colored day
your eyes would not believe
the crowds that line the streets to see your last parade
with confetti and a sea of cheers

the music plays the children laugh
the floats of your best days roll past
close your eyes for what comes last
i’ll drive us forward you keep looking back

the sun will fade it’s getting late
one last stop outside the gate
to make sure everything’s in place
to say that one last thing you need to say

alive behind your eyes
but soon you’ll realize it’s all about to change
your heart would beat again
to see them all begin to shower your parade
with confetti and a sea of cheers
with confetti and a sea of cheers
